Down the Rabbit Hole..
It started with a simple tweet on a Thursday Night.
AubreyBloom: “My girlfriend is trying to convince me that the Super Mario Brothers movie is better than Snakes on a Plane. #NotPossible”
Innocent enough right? I mean there’s no way that any sane person can say that the Super Mario Brothers movie is better than the cinematic masterpiece that is Snakes on a Plane. But little...

Crashing Into a Bee
So, as many of you read earlier today, I had a traumatic experience with a bee on the way back to Kerrville. Now, I think I’ve only been stung by a bee one other time in my entire life, and that was when I was a kid and it was a bumblebee, so that’s not even the same experience. I felt that intro was important.
Now, to say that the bee stung me, would technically be incorrect. A more...

A New All Time Low
10:00 PM
So, I think my life has hit a new low. A friend of mine and I, let’s call him “Dave,” are currently camped outside of What-A-Burger in south College Station. Why? Because the first twenty people in line tomorrow morning get free What-A-Burger for a year. Did you hear that? AN ENTIRE FREAKIN’ YEAR OF WHAT-A-BURGER.
So we’re chillin’ out here with a fish camp waiting for tomorrow to...

Sending Kassie Into Space
So, Ally sent me this link about a guy who sent an Iphone and an HD camera into space… like ya do… so it got us thinking that we should probably send something into space. It took me about 20 seconds to realize that the thing we should send is our friend Kassie, so I proposed this to Kassie. Here is the conversation that followed:
Aubrey: can Ally and I send you into space?
Kassie:...

Change The Rule
Few places take their traditions more seriously than Texas A&M, but sometimes the seriousness can get in the way of what should be an easy decision. There is debate on whether or not Tobi Oyedeji, a high schooler who had committed to play at A&M next year should be honored at the first Silver Taps of the year.
For the sake of not making this personal, I will refrain from listing off the...

Home No Longer
Before I start, let me make this very clear. I am not opposed, in principle, to the idea of Texas A&M competing in the smaller version of the conference formerly known as the Big 12. I am opposed to the lack of leadership coming out of Texas A&M University.
Let’s include all of the parts of this story. The Aggies have been nothing short of miserable over the last seven years of...
State of Fear
The Texas Longhorns are scared. There, I said it. They are afraid of A&M’s potential in the SEC and are trying to do everything they can to prevent it, including winding up their statewide media network. “But Aubrey, you’re an Aggie, you’re just spouting nonsense.” Let’s take a look at this.
Why the Pac 16?
Why is Texas so dead set on getting to the West...
A Rare Crossroads
Disclaimer: Recently I have written several basketball recruiting articles for Texas A&M’s Rivals.com affiliate AggieYell.com. However, this blog does not represent the opinions of AggieYell.com, and they are my own independent thoughts an opinions. Let’s just get this started with a full on helping of honesty. I am an Aggie. And not a “went to A&M but only wear my ring...

A Series of Fortunate Events
(This is Part 2 of my series of conversations with myself dealing with conference expansion. For Part 1, scroll down the page.)
Well Aubrey, that was a good break, now let’s get down to the good stuff. Enough with what will probably happen, let’s look at what could happen and where the Aggies could end up if the cards all fall in the right direction.
Sure Aub… err… me....

It's All About the Longhorns...
Here’s why I love conference realignment talk. First off, it’s all just rampant rumors, so you can’t really be wrong. Yet, at the same time, you can call everyone else’s ideas dumb. So it’s rampant speculation wrapped in elitism, or in other words, basically the love child of my two favorite things in the world. So of course, I need to weigh in on it.
In order to...

Glee Fail
I’m not ashamed to admit it, I watch Glee. I was a theater/choir kid in high school and it’s high time that we had our day in the sun. It’s just too bad that day has been derailed by writers who forgot what they were doing during the layoff.
Glee has managed to pull off a rare feat in the world of TV. I have gone from not caring, to on the bandwagon, to it being worth a spot...
Don't Talk to Me...
Here it is, the much anticipated second installment of a potentially infinite series pointing out the pure crap that some companies have decided to put on TV as commercials.
Next up: McDonald’s Coffee
Now, I can already tell what you’re thinking, and I agree. McDonald’s as an entire corporation isn’t really lighting up smiles across the nation with their other ads, but...

Conference Expansion - May I Present the Big Coast...
This is my favorite off-season topic so I’m not sure how I’ve waited this long to blog about it, but here it is. Every year we go through dramatic “done deals” and numerous reports that the Big 10 is sitting on the verge of collapsing college sports as we know it. Then the sports media starts the “what-if” scenarios that will play out if the Big 10 expands, the...
Softly call the Muster...
I realize that most of these blogs are attempts at humor or just me venting, but tonight I have something a little more serious to say. I realized this week that I wasn’t done on my journey of truly being a part of the Aggie Family. I think for most Aggies there are a few stages between “hey, I could see myself at A&M” and walking across the stage at graduation. But this week...
Where Have All the Good Ads Gone?
So I’m sitting here watching the NBA Playoffs. I’m not sure why either, they last for like a year and a half and the same four teams make the semi finals every year but “The Pacific” isn’t done recording and I’ll probably fall asleep if I watch a movie so here we are. The topic of today’s blog is advertisements.
Few channels have good self promotions...
CBS Obsessed With Itself (and Old Things)
Normally I love sitting back on Sunday in April and taking in the Masters. It’s simple, it’s great entertainment, and no TV station could possibly screw up golf coverage right? Wrong. Here are but a few of the ways that CBS continuously screwed up this weekend.
# 1 - Missing Shots
I can understand this on Thursday and Friday because a lot of people are in contention and about 452...

Dana Walsh; A Bigger Threat to America than...
Dana Walsh is the worst character in the entire history of “24.” Now if you don’t agree, that’s understandable, but you need to stop reading because you probably have some Saxon Math homework for your 6th grade equivalency class you should be doing, and you probably don’t understand complex sentences anyway. Seriously stop reading. Look!! Transformers 2 is on! Okay,...

Some 'Ville History
Okay, so I’ve been failing at the whole blog thing lately, but not much has happened. I’m pretty poor, so my typical day involves waking up around noon, cleaning the house and then sitting around looking up college basketball stuff for a few hours before evening TV comes on. Because of this, I’ve decided to let you guys in on another side of Kerrville. The historically...

Episode 5: Hit by a car...
So it’s been a few days since I’ve written an article, but I like to let the weekend soak in so that I can pick out the highlights to write about. Here are the events of the last half a week or so.
Part 1: Partyin’ with the KPD
So on Friday I went out to the GRC and saw someone I knew from high school. She felt bad for my plight of having to move back into town and let me hang...
Episode 4: Karaoke Night at the GRC...
Part 1: I may now be on the sexual predator watch list…
So I decided yesterday morning that I should get out and try to do something instead of just sitting around my house all day doing chores. I first decided to go play basketball at a park, but when I got there the wind was blowing at about 1500 miles per hour. So then, for some unexplained reason and for the first time in my entire...
Episode 3: A Night on the Town...
Prelude to the evening:
We had some family over on Friday night and had a solid Margarita night at the house (though sadly it appears that green Tarantula is also illegal in the ‘Ville.) Saturday I sat around watching football all day, and for some reason decided that I had to see the Aggies play. I texted a few people to see which locales had DirectTV, so armed with this knowledge I began...
Episode 2: A lowlight, and a highlight...
Between Kerrville and Comfort:
Kerrville is a country town. Nobody is ever going to arrive in the ‘Ville and think “wow, this is like a smaller San Francisco.” However, a quick 10 minutes drive south and you reach the epicenter of redneck. It’s like the infield of a NASCAR race without the track, or the cars, just the people.
Center Point is where my grandparents live...
Intro and Episode 1: HEB
Intro to TalesFromTheVille
I graduated college on August 14th. Armed with my new degree and four years of working for Texas A&M as a student, I was ready to set out into the world. I figured a few weeks, maybe a month and a half tops, and I’d have some sort of job living in Bryan/College Station. However, here I am, two months after graduation, and I just moved back in with my parents....
